Obituary for Viola Neufeld

(Aganeta) Viola Neufeld, age 80 of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away peacefully and
went to be with her Lord and Saviour on September 22, 2022.

She was born in Curitiba, Brazil on June 4, 1942. Viola had a happy childhood growing
up on a dairy farm. As a teenager she was baptized on the confession of her faith and
joined the Mennonite Brethren church in Bouque Rao. Here she sang in the choir which
was led by her father and also taught Sunday School.

After a brief stop in Germany, she moved to Canada in 1966. She worked at several
jobs including Pauline's and Deerlodge. She then went to University of Winnipeg and
got her Bachelor of Arts degree, after which she worked at St. Amant. She later
followed her dream to live in a big city and moved to Toronto.

While in Toronto she attended a german church where she enjoyed actively serving and
singing. She developed lasting friendships there. A highlight for her was a trip to
Halifax with a family that she nannied for.

One of her hobbies was to play the violin which she learned in Brazil and continued to
take lessons in Winnipeg. She also enjoyed puzzles, knitting and watching german
movies.

After retirement, she moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to family. She is survived by
her sister Elsa, brother Hans and Anni Neufeld and family, and sister-in-law Ruth
Neufeld and family. She is predeceased by her parents Johann and Liese Neufeld,
brothers, Gerhard and Waldemar, sister Lili Thorlakson and brother-in-law Carl
Thorlakson.

Funeral Service is at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg.
Interment Transcona Cemetery.
