Obituary for Albert Kroeker "Bert" Dueck

June 18, 1947 – February 4, 2023

On Saturday, February 4, Albert Dueck, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away. He was seventy-five. Born to Peter B. and Katherine Dueck, Bert was raised in Rosenort together with his five brothers and four sisters. After moving with his parents to Fisher Branch, he became an active member in the EMC Church. It was here that he met Helen Reimer, who became his devoted wife. They were together for nearly fifty years.

Bert graduated from the University of Manitoba with an agricultural diploma and went on to take ownership of Dueck Seed Farm. He loved his grain fields and spending time with family and friends. Bert was best known for his friendliness, loyalty, and a sense of humour that emerged more and more in his later years. He lived a full life, often enjoying camping and road trips with his family, watching Jets games, making financial spreadsheets, doting on his grandchildren, appreciating time outdoors, and even until the end being a farmer at heart. He will be greatly missed by his wife Helen; son Reg (Angela) and grandchildren Alyviah, Chloe, Mason, and Mila; daughter Shawnda (Claus) and grandchildren Adea and Evrin; and daughter Crystelle (Curtis) and grandchildren Malakai, Taleigha, and Avriel. The heavenly reunion includes his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at the heart failure clinic and cardiac wards of St. Boniface Hospital for their expertise in heart health and for caring so well for Bert. The medical staff at Percy E. Moore Hospital were also exceptional and deeply appreciated in the last days and hours; Dr. Bruin was so caring and understanding. We also want to extend our sincere gratefulness to the church community, friends, and extended family for all their prayers and support during this difficult time. Thanks as well to Friends Funeral Service for their professionalism and dignity in preparing a meaningful day.

Funeral service took place Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Morweena EMC Church.
