Alex was predeceased by his wife Ella, father Abraham Neufeld and mother Anna. He is lovingly remembered by his only son, Henry, numerous friends and neighbours, caregivers, cousins I am just now learning about, and a small contingent of contemporaries who managed to outlast him.
Funeral Service
There will be no opportunity for public mourning. Instead, there will be a private ceremony for invited guests held at a later date on the deck of a boat in the middle of a river. Inside Joke . . . only those privileged enough to really know him will understand this obscure reference.
In Lieu of Funeral Services
Commemorative cards will be issued similar to those which would have been distributed had a Memorial Service actually occurred. Aside from the usual, they will contain a somewhat comprehensive, not too pedantic (I hope) family history lesson, song lyrics, a highly personal reminiscence, and even a few “Easter Eggs” strategically placed.
There is a list I have of people who will receive these tokens automatically, delivered by me, Henry Neufeld, son of Alex, personally. Otherwise, these limited-edition keepsakes will be available for the asking, please email me at neufeldh@shaw.ca once you’re done reading this.
