Obituary for Audrey Goertzen

Audrey (Audge) Rachel Goertzen
March 7, 1961 – January 18, 2024

On Thursday, January 18, 2024, after enjoying a breakfast with good friends, our dear sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend Audrey Goertzen passed away suddenly. She entered this world at the Women’s Hospital in Winnipeg on March 7, 1961, the 2nd of 4 children and the only daughter born to Dave & Mary Ann.

Audrey was passionate about her faith and with that, passionate about her friends and most especially the kids in her life. She was a collector of various things, she was passionate about music, singing on the worship team at church and attending as many concerts as she was able, plus had season tickets to the WSO. She was an artist. Audrey made beautiful hand-made cards and painted beautiful water colour pictures. She will always be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her love for life and her generous heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Audrey was predeceased by her mother Mary Ann Warkentin, father Dave Goertzen, brother Larry Goertzen, and many cherished aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her older brother Riley (Lorraine) and their children David (Bailey) and Allison (Mark); her younger brother Jim (Darra) and their children Tayiah (Jackson) and Evan (Anissa); her sister-in-law Becky Goertzen and her children Amy (Scott) and their children Hailey, Jared and William, and Nicky (Chris) and their children Devon and Aurora. She is also survived by her best friend, caregiver and long-time roommate Birdena Driedger.

Audrey is also survived by her step-father Jake Warkentin and Jake’s children DJ (Jacqueline), Janet Warkentin-Bosse (Aart), and Rod (Diane)

In lieu of flowers, and if desired, donations may be made in Audrey’s name to Mennonite Central Committee, water project, or Inner City Youth Alive.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Braeside Evangelical Mennonite Church, 1011 Munroe Avenue, Winnipeg.
