Obituary for Blondine Poschwatta

Blondine Poschwatta

Blondi was born in Kiel, Germany on August 12, 1930 to Herman and Martha Pruess. She was the first of
three children. Blondi had a happy childhood until 1940. During World War II her whole family was
separated. When the air raids intensified, the houses and schools were destroyed. Her school and
teacher were transferred to Austria. She had good care but no family there.

After the war, Helmut Poschwatta had no family too so they were married. They had one daughter,
Edelgard. The future in Germany seemed very bleak so they decided to immigrate to Canada. They
arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba in October 1951 where they joined McDermot Ave. Baptist Church. They
were blessed with good pastors and friends.

In 1965, they left for Edmonton, where Helmut finished his Pastoral studies. From 1968-1973 they
moved to Milwaukee to serve as Pastoral couple at German Zion Baptist Church. They served in Alberta
before heading back to Manitoba where they served at Grace Baptist Church in Ochre River from 1977-
1987. They moved to Winnipeg where they served as Meadow Wood Manor Chaplain from 1987-1992.
The Lord blessed her with health and strength, a helping hand, and open house. Great is the Lord!

Blondi has one daughter, Edelgard married to Rainer Breuer, one granddaughter, Kim Breuer and two
Great-grandchildren, Coalton and Hayden.
