Obituary for Catherine Marjorie Rowley (Duval)

CATHERINE MARJORIE ROWLEY

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Catherine Marjorie Rowley on May 21, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Madge DuVal, brother Douglas, sister Darlene Williams and grandson Jake Rowley. She is survived by her partner of 28 years Dick Hatfield and her children, step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cathie grew up in Bissett, Manitoba spending her childhood enjoying the outdoors, especially the lake. She loved to swim and was an avid angler. These activities continued to be an important part of her life and she enjoyed them as long as she was able to. A love of music and singing was instilled in her at a young age and as girl she was often involved with plays and performances. She learned to play the ukulele and guitar in her teens and soon became queen of the campfire sing along. Many get-togethers with family or friends resulted in Cathie singing and playing her guitar at the insistence of others. She could play and sing all night, her never ending song list ensured that songs were never repeated. Cathie enjoyed the simple things in life and wasn’t concerned about appearances or fancy things. If you brought her a lawn chair by the water (lake, river, creek) and a hot dog, she wouldn’t just think it was good enough, IT WAS THE BEST! She had a quirky sense of humour and loved to laugh. When her disability progressed making fishing and music too difficult, she liked to play games on the computer and share silly email jokes. She also enjoyed watching sports on television. She loved the Jets and also enjoyed watching tennis.

She's gone to join the family circle in the sky Lord, in the sky. May it be a joyous reunion!

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
