Obituary for Curtis John Kessler

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, Curtis Kessler, on July 12, 2022. Curtis battled with his illness for most of his adult life, he was strong and constantly persevered in the face of adversity, after 33 years, he sadly lost that battle.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Herman and Mary Kessler, as well as Joan Bates. Curtis will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by: his father John Kessler, mother Shelley Ellis (Brent); grandparents Edward and Lorraine Bates; siblings, Chantelle Kessler, Chad Kessler (Carlee), Chase Ellis; nieces/nephews, Bailey, Rhyis, Ryker, Bellamy, and Olivia Kessler; as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Curtis was born in Winnipeg at the women’s pavilion on January 2, 1989. Curtis’ hobbies included fishing with his Dad, and friends Larry L, and Larry Z; getting out into nature with his Mom at the cabin; swimming, water skiing, tubing and hiking; playing video games with his brother; and tobogganing with his nieces, and nephews. Curtis had initially left school without completing his grade 12, however, returned later in life determined to achieve his goal of completing school in which he was successful. Curtis appreciated marijuana like a fine wine and enjoyed relaxing with his close family, and friends. He enjoyed working as a courier with his father where he was able to see the city and socialise with people from all walks of life. As a child, Curtis was a handful, always exploring with a fearless sense of adventure. He was inseparable from his childhood friend Amanda. Curtis loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and he would run around the house and karate chop and kick. Like his grandfather, Curtis was a high achiever in 5 pin bantam bowling, carrying the high average title, one minor team elimination from the provincials. He loved listening to 70’s music, and dancing around. With Curtis there was never a dull moment. He loved with his whole heart, and he will be forever missed.

A funeral service will be held on July 21, 2022, at 12:00. Located at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB.
