Obituary for Egon Ulrich

EGON ULRICH
April 12, 1941 – May 13, 2021

On May 13th God called Egon Ulrich home to be with his Lord and Saviour. He is survived by his loving wife Carol (nee Tiede/Lepholtz); his son Leonard; son Brian (Leanne), grandchildren Emily, Samantha, Luke; daughter Susan (Steve) Nachtigall, grandchildren Tyson, Tessa, Tanner; daughter Lori (Kevin) Nachtigall, grandchildren Ryan, Leah, Trevor; brothers Hans (Annemarie) and Fritz (Dagmar); sister-in-law Irmgard Ulrich. He was predeceased by his first wife Lina (nee Kelbert) in 1987, brother Manfred and sister-in-law Ingrid, and brother George.

Egon was born in Zeinicke, Germany, the youngest of five sons born to Fritz and Ella Ulrich. In 1953 the family immigrated to Canada finally settling in Winnipeg. Following graduation from MBCI, Egon enjoyed a full teaching career, having taught at Arthur Day School, Murdock MacKay Collegiate and Springfield Collegiate in Oakbank, Mb. He also enjoyed many years of photography, wood working, and his sales business in boats and vehicles.

Egon’s favourite activity was spending time at the family cottage at Lake Nutimik. Family and friends will treasure many happy memories of all the good times we were able to enjoy there.

Egon accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour earlier in his life. His personal relationship with Jesus was most important in his life. He was a faithful and active member of Rowandale Baptist Church where he served in many capacities such as leading Boys Brigade, teaching Sunday School and serving on the church council.

Following a stroke in February 2016, he resided at The Maples Personal Care Home until June of 2018, after which he moved to Donwood Manor Personal Care Home where he lived until the time of his death. The family would like to thank all of the staff for their wonderful care over the years.

Words cannot describe how Egon will be missed by his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren, all who were blessed by the time they had with him.

Donations may be made in Egon’s memory to “Camp Nutimik Foundation”, Box 35040 RPO Henderson, Winnipeg, MB, R2K 4J9, or online at campnutimik.com. Please specify that your donation is in memory of Egon Ulrich.
