Ernest Percival Hall

October 21, 1981 - February 2, 2023 Percy Hall, 41, of Winnipeg passed away at the Health Science Centre on February 2, 2023. Percy was born in Winnipeg at Concordia Hospital on October 21, 1981 to Angie and Ernie Hall.

Percy is survived by father Ernie Hall; sisters, Crystal (Mark) Novicki and Charley (Barry) Wiebe; nephew Colin Novicki and niece Serena Novicki; wife Christy Hall; children, Braden, Daylon, Hannah, Emily and Kaylynn; mother-in-law Audrey Feltham and father-in-law Dave Sayer; brothers-in-law, Donovan (Tracy) Harmon and Billy (Jennifer) Harmon; loving dog Sam, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by mother Angie Hall; grandparents, Albert Percival Hall and Alvina Kabernick and Joseph and Jean Tarnowski; aunts, Alvina Pockett and Bernice Williams; uncles, Randy Hall, George Hall, Raymond Demkey, Eddy Demkey, Victor Tarnowski and Mers Chorney, and cousin Kelly Welch.

Percy developed a close circle of friends: Ed Janson, Mike Orvis and Andre Saray from his school days. Their friendships continued into his adult years.

Percy attended Kildonan East Collegiate studying Carpentry and Auto Body. He graduated in 1999 but was literally in a class by himself for 1 year to complete his Carpentry degree in 2000. Percy worked at Palliser Furniture, the same company that employed his father Ernie, for 5 years as a framer. He moved onto building houses in Winnipeg and then in Alberta.

He enjoyed fishing, golf, and camping, driving his Camaro. Percy, as a child, went on yearly vacations to Hecla Island, Tinker Town and Wet n Wild water park. When he was older, he would go to Selkirk Park and docks and go camping and fishing with his dad. In recent years, Percy found a spot to fish on the riverbank close to St. Clements Church.

Percy and Christy met at Spankys but it took many months for her to get to know him before they began dating and eventually they married.

Percy and Christy enjoyed going to the cabin a couples times a year. One time they were going canoeing, Christy was holding onto the dock so he could get into the canoe but she let go too soon. Percy lost his balance and the canoe tipped over. Unfortunately, his cell phone was in his pocket! Meanwhile, Christy started to panic in the water and was not aware the water was shallow. Percy told her to just stand up!

Another memorable vacation was when they went on a road trip to Edmonton. They went to the mall and got matching tattoos with their initials. The tattoos took longer than expected and was messed up because the artist was new. Percy was not amused.

They also attended a comedy show at the casino by Bob Saget. Percy started to heckle him and Bob started to make jokes about Percy as payback. Percy loved the attention.

Percy had many good times with the children. When they used to live in a side-by-side house, the kids built a snow man in the yard. The next-door neighbor told them to keep the snowman on their side of the yard. Percy went next door to defend the kids instead. Emily remembers when we used to take them in the yellow truck and drive really fast around the loops while the kids sat on his lap and steered the truck. They would then go to the store and get treats. Another tradition the kids came up with was to make Percy get into the bathtub fully clothed and make him list all the things he did to make them mad. They then poured a bucket of water over him.

When the kids were younger, Percy took them to the docks to fish. He bought them all rods but need to put them together. He spent most of the day setting them up. In his frustration, he threw one of the rods in the water and vowed to never take them fishing again.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Chesney, Nicklaus Yakimchuk, Dan Walchuk Jr., Richard Walchuk, Adam Elliott and Ian Beaurdy.
