Esther Friesen
On Monday June 13th, 2022 Esther Friesen passed away peacefully at the age of 89.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son Johnnie, her daughter Sylvia ( Sieg ) Schartner; five grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley) Friesen, Chad (Teri-Lynn) Friesen, Melissa (Ivan) Neufeld, Nathan Schartner, and Emily (Michael) Pereira; six great grandchildren, Rylee Neufeld, Len Neufeld, Chase Friesen, Makena Friesen, Madden Friesen, and Max Friesen. Also left to miss Esther are two sisters, one brother and sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Esther was predeceased by her husband John and three daughters Judy, Margaret, and Lisa Ann.
Grandma was born on Sept. 22nd, 1932, to Heinrich K. and Katharina (Rempel) Giesbrecht in Blumenfeld, Manitoba, the second youngest of 23 siblings (it's not a typo) including half-brothers and half-sisters.
She married her husband John on Nov. 2nd 1953. They farmed NE of Altona and then south of Bagot before eventually moving to Winnipeg in 1967. Grandma got a job as an assistant occupational therapist working at Princess Margaret Hospital until her retirement. Upon retirement she started with her favorite hobby knitting and sewing. She and Grandpa took her crafts to shows all over Manitoba and Saskatchewan with great success. She than went onto scrap booking (another hobby) making scrapbooks for her children and grandchildren.
Grandma was a prayer warrior, praying endlessly for family, friends and world events. Grandma had many health issues in her later years, but never complained of the pain she endured. She was ultimately relieved of her earthly pain and embraced in the arms of her loving Heavenly Father.
Grandma will be dearly missed by all.
The service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Morrow Gospel Church, 755 St. Anne’s Road, Winnipeg, with viewing prior to service. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfb-bqnqK_w
Burial will take place at the Neuhorst Cemetery.
