Obituary for Frank Peter Kasdorf

Frank Peter Kasdorf
1946 - 2020

Today we say goodbye to our Dad. We rejoice that he is in heaven with his loving Father and those he loved so much. To us, it feels too soon; his leaving was unexpected. But for him, we know he was more than ready to go to his eternal home.

Frank was born to Peter and Susanna Kasdorf on July 1st, 1946 in Winkler, Manitoba. He was the thirteenth of sixteen siblings, three of which have passed away prior to him. As a young boy he moved to Niverville, Manitoba and enjoyed his growing up years farming with his dad and brothers and all the adventures that came with life on a farm. He went to grade school in Niverville and finished high school at MBCI.

Dad met our mom, Darlene at youth group when they were both young and had a long courtship, marrying in 1969. They were blessed with two daughters, Shannon and Jodene, and made their home in Winnipeg. Frank and Darlene enjoyed 38 years of marriage before she passed away. During these years they enjoyed family holidays, camping at Detroit Lakes & Falcon Lake, trips to Fargo, Rosthern and Banff, cross country skiing, downhill skiing and serving in the church.

Dad dove into a career in Information Technology with great passion. He spent the majority of his career at Palliser Furniture, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed a few years in business with Pelican Graphics, Harmony Caskets and 10K eXpressions, but then returned to his first love of farming with his brother Jake, nephew Jason and niece Marcy. He enjoyed every minute of these last years on the farm. His work there gave deep meaning to his days and it was a gift for him to spend his time with his dear brother and family.

After Darlene passed away, Dad was blessed to find love again with Joyce Adrian, marrying in 2009. They enjoyed doing the things they loved: travelling back and forth to Saskatchewan, serving together in the church, loving their grandkids and supporting all their activities. During this time Dad was privileged to join the Adrian family. This family loves to laugh together, pray together and they embraced Dad as one of their own. Frank and Joyce enjoyed seven years of marriage before she passed away.

Dad spent his leisure time golfing, photographing nature, relaxing at the beach with family and friends at his favorite summer spots (Waskesiu, Falcon Lake) and in more recent years, spending much time at Nutimik Lake. His passion was to serve the Lord by serving in the church. Frank and Darlene attended Brooklands Community Church until it closed in 1997 and then joined Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church. Frank also attended Grace Point and invested there. Frank enjoyed using his gifts to serve wherever there was a need including Choir Director, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Host, Small Group Leader and Elder. Above all other interests, he worked at growing in his faith. The most important thing in Dad’s life was serving God; his presence will be missed so much in his church and by the community there.

He will be greatly missed by his children: Shannon (Sean) Francey and Jodene (Colin) Neufeld and Grandchildren: Riley (Jessica) Francey, Reese Francey, Brooklyn, Liv, Roan and Jude Neufeld as well as his siblings, their families and many friends.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street from 4:00pm to 6:00pm in groups of 5.

A private family memorial service will take place Tuesday, October 27, 2020 by invitation only.
