It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ida Hildebrandt (nee Lehmann) on March 9, 2022, just a few days short of her one hundred and second birthday.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Edeltraud Berndt, son Manfred, daughter Irmgard Steinhilber (Helmut) and by her grandchildren, Marvin Berndt (Anita), Glen Berndt (June), Laura Bergman (Joe), Kurt Hildebrandt (Arielle) and David Hildebrandt (Lashawnda), and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ethan, Jace and Owen.
She was predeceased by her first husband Reinhold Stelter in 1944 and her second husband Albert Hildebrandt in 2006. She was also predeceased by two daughters in childhood, Hiltrud and Irmgard Stelter; three sisters, Lydia, Ottilie, and Frieda; one brother Reinhard and son-in-law Reinhard Berndt.
Ida was born on March 14, 1920 to Adolf and Emilie Lehmann. She married Reinhold Stelter in 1939. After the death of her first husband in 1944, she married Albert Hildebrandt in 1952 in Hamburg, Germany. They came to Canada in 1954 where they made their home in Winnipeg.
We will remember her quiet, unassuming character and her wonderful devotion to her family. She has left us a legacy of Christian faith and for this we are grateful.
We would like to say a special thank you to all the home care workers, the staff of Irene Baron Eden Centre and the staff of River East Personal Care Home who contributed so much to ensure that Ida could maintain a good quality of life until her final days.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of God, 705 Concordia Avenue, Winnipeg, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul.
