It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irene Enns on November 7, 2020. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband of 49 years John, son Jeff Enns (Julia Werner Enns); son Dan Enns (Kimberly Enns); daughter Christy Epp (Darnell Epp); grandchildren, Kadin and Abigail Werner Enns, Tayo, Maelle, Coen Enns and Esa, Jonas, Nadiya, and Levi Epp; siblings, John Rempel (Jan Rempel), Ruth Voth (Kurt Voth) and Barbara Pederson (Rod Pederson) and numerous extended family members and friends.

She is predeceased by her father Peter Rempel and mother Gertrude Rempel.

Irene was born in Winnipeg and grew up on a farm just outside of Elm Creek, MB. She married John on July 31, 1971 and eventually they took over the family farm in Elm Creek, MB. Since leaving the farm in 1988, Irene and John lived in Winkler, MB, Cochrane, AB and La Salle, MB. Irene and John enjoyed exploring in Manitoba and travelling throughout the world. Irene loved to spend as much time as possible at her “Happy Place”, the cottage at Falcon Lake, visiting with family and friends. They were fortunate to travel to Africa and Japan to spend time with their children, as well as exploring Europe. It seemed like Irene was always doing something whether it was playing cards and board games, camping, outdoor activities like hiking and water sports, gardening, teaching her kids and grandkids to bake, visiting with friends and family or just relaxing and reading a book. Irene was a gifted, creative encourager, whether it was through her profession as a teacher, teaching painting classes, providing decorations and coordinating activities for church and community events. Her faith in Jesus Christ was very important to her. Giving back to those around her was very important and Irene and John spent many hours volunteering at church events and for non-profit organizations.
Irene was described by friends and family as generous, caring, creative, strong, humorous, faithful, loving, accepting, which barely scratches the surface of describing this amazing woman, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be always loved and never forgotten.

Her family is grateful for the 4+ years of relatively good health that Irene experienced since her diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. While her energy was reduced by the cancer and treatments, Irene still wanted to be involved. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the many family members and friends who have been such a tremendous support.

A memorial service will be held for close family and by invitation only.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beth Amani Safe House Ministry. The Beth Amani Safe House was close to Irene's heart after the visits her and John made to East Africa, visiting their kids. The director of the ministry is a Muslim-background believer whom Irene developed a special relationship with, even earning the title of 'mom'. This ministry was special to Irene as its' goals reflect Her life's passions: sharing the great news of Jesus with those who don't know him and then providing education.

Donations to the Beth Amani Safe House can be made through the Enns family or this GoFundMe link:
