I'm very sorry for your loss and equally sorry I was not able to attend the streamed session on January 17th. I'm met Jurgen years ago when he was a student in the SCMP program. He was taking a course through distance education and I was instructing the in class session. I invited him to the classroom sessions and he decided to come and attend a few. We quickly forged a friendship.

Jurgen was a gentleman and consummate professional. Over the course of the years we ran into each other at professional events and we always shared a laugh or had a conversation around current supply chain issues. When I think of Jurgen, I remember his infectious smile, gentle wit and passion for our profession. I true ambassador for supply chain and someone who I was honored to call my friend.

Please accept my deepest condolences and know he will be remembered by all of us in the Supply Chain community.

I had the privilege to be hired by Jurgens and work with him for 8 months. Not that long but enough to know his kindness, knowledge an excellent professional. My deep condolences to family and friends. Sure that he's in a better place now.

Our sincere condolences to the Bekker family, and also to others who were fortunate enough to count Jurgens - and Suzanne - as good friends. All, in Winnipeg, and beyond, who knew him have lost a unique individual and gentleman.
Rita and I were happy to meet Jurgens and Suzanne when they first came to Winnipeg, and were happy again, when they lived with us, after their return from the U.S., and until they found their home on Beaverbrook. Jurgens and I enjoyed playing squash, and meeting for coffee &/or lunch, whenever we could juggle our schedules. We would often "talk cars", and test drive and shop for them. In fact, both cars that we agreed on are still going strong. We also enjoyed discussing current affairs, it's a tribute to both Jurgens' and his gentle nature, that even when we couldn't see an issue from the same perspective, we agreed to differ agreeably.
I must confess, that since their move from Beaverbrook, I've missed the 5 minute "drive by" visits that stretched into 35 minutes: 1 more errand to run "tomorrow" but that was fine!
You will be remembered, our friend.

My sincere condolences to Jurgens’ family, friends and colleagues. I worked side by side in management with Jurgens for many years at the University of Manitoba and developed a close business and personal relationship with him. I really enjoyed Jurgens‘ unique sense of humour. Over the years we shared tears of laughter, joy and sorrow. Jurgens cared. He was so professional, so precise in his analysis, writing and strategies - I was in awe of his skills. He was so humble. I respected Jurgens. He was honest and kind, and he respected all of his staff, colleagues and friends. The loss of Jurgens is unexplainable and still unbelievable. May he Rest In Peace.
With love and peace, Paul and Dianne
