Johnnie David Zacharias
In loving memory of Johnnie David Zacharias who passed away on April 3, 2023 at Oakview extended care home at the age of 72 years old.
John suffered from Multiple Sclerosis, which made his life very difficult for him.
John was born in Altona Hospital, Manitoba to Tina and Jacob Zacharias of Grunthal District near Altona on Dec 3, 1950.
He had 6 other siblings, Paul (Edna) Wisconsin, USA, Martha (Walter) Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Pete (Helen) Oliver, BC, Tina (Russ) Steinbach, Manitoba, Helene (Harv) Winkler, Manitoba, Diane (Richard) Delta, BC.
He had one daughter Jennifer whom he loved very dearly!
He was predeceased by his parents , one brother in law Dave in 2010, one sister Martha in July 2020 and one sister in law Helen in 2022.
John moved to Winnipeg at 16 years old and his first job was Dominion Bronze working with windows. He went to college and became a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic and worked for Blackwood Hodge, City of Winnipeg, Westcon Equipment, travelled to fix mining equipment in various mines. He also worked in Mould Bay in North West Territories for the weather station, and also fixed the Largest Cat Trucks & Dozers in Construction for Finning Caterpillar in Fort McMurray, Alberta. He also traveled to fix heavy equipment in a mine in Kirgizstan, Russia.
Jennifer was his pride and joy whom he spent much time with, going to hockey games, football games, Red River ex, Morden corn and apple festival and travels. Johns’ passion was riding his motorcycle. Did many trips to Sturgis and other places with family members. He did some trips to BC with his daughter to visit family and sightseeing. He also enjoyed flea markets and collecting antiques.
John will be missed by all. Free at last. Ride free dad! You were loved so very much! Until we see each other again.
