Obituary for Kenneth Hugh Torrance

Kenneth Torrance

It is with a deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father Kenneth Torrance on February 12 at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years Elsie and parents Hugh and Amelia (Molly). He will be lovingly remembered by his three sons Hugh, Jamie, and Kevin (Jolene). Ken was born in Winnipeg on May 28,1938.

Ken grew up in West Kildonan on St. Anthony Street. He enjoyed a notable career in the printing industry where he was also known as “Chopper”. First at Stovel Advocate/Lawson Graphics from 1957-1978, then at Bulman Brothers from 1978-1993, and finally at Premier Printing from 1993 until his retirement in 2003.

Ken had a passion for the outdoor life and thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his boys. He also enjoyed watching or attending sporting events especially our Bombers where he had the rare distinction of attending games at Osborne Stadium, Winnipeg Stadium and Investors Group Field.

Ken was very proud of his three sons, they were his pride & joy and he would do anything for them. Ken’s stories, colorful remarks, and classic one- liners will be deeply missed.

We would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, the Winnipeg Fire Department and Paramedic Service for their service, care and compassion.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Friends Funeral Service 2146 Main Street . Condolences may be left on his memory wall at www.friendsfs.ca
