Marilene Kasdorf, age 73 of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 20th, 2023 at Concordia Place, following a diagnose of pneumonia, heart and kidney failures, with family at her bedside.
She was born in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil on September 28th, 1950. She attended Colegio Erasto Gaertner, a private school, in Curitiba. As a teenager she accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a Janz Team Evangelistic Crusade. Marilene immigrated to Canada in May 1973 and lived 50 years in Winnipeg. She was baptized on her confession of faith on December 8th, 1974, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, joining North Kildonan M.B. Church.
Her first job in Canada was at Paulins Chambers, a cookie and chocolate factory. She worked at two sewing factories, an office job, and then worked for 26 years at DeFehr Furniture, where she earned a trip for two to Palm Springs for her 25 years of service.
Marilene became ill in May 1975 and was hospitalized, and she went through hard times. In 2013 her kidneys deteriorated to a lower level, down to 12%. Praise the Lord that she didn’t have to go through dialysis. Since 2019 Marilene was not able to walk due to her knees. In July 2020 she was submitted for surgery on her right knee, which was unsuccessful.
Marilene had a deep faith in Jesus Christ; she read the New Testament and Psalms 32 times in her lifetime, and she spread His word to Concordia Place residents. Her hobbies were knitting and coloring.
Even though Marilene went through very dark valleys she did not become bitter. She had a very loving and caring heart and was a very generous person. She lived at Concordia Place for the last 2 years and 5 months.
The family would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the staff at Concordia Place for their outstanding and efficient care of Marilene.
She will be deeply missed and survived by her brother Henrique (spouse Helga) and their son Charles Wellington; sisters, Ana, Edite, Hildegard, Erna of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and sister Agatha Kasdorf Reinke, and her children, Karin Elizabeth Reinke, Marvin Andreas Reinke (spouse Larissa), Carlos Henrique Reinke; and her grandchildren, Bruno Alejandro, Oliver Rodrigo and Maria Luisa all of Curitiba, Brazil.
