Obituary for Mary Louise Wilms (Kroeker)

MARY L. WILMS

Our mom slipped away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday evening, May 13, 2023.

She is survived by her daughter Edith (Brian) Peters, Gerald (Janice) Wilms, grandchildren Lisa (Leo) Penner, Jonathan (Cheryl) Wiebe, Steve (Angela) Wilms, Robert (Charlotte) Wilms, Laura (Cameron Johnston and many great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her brother, Irv Kroeker.

Mom’s bonus family, as she called them, are Mike (Helen) Peters, Greg (Brenda) Peters, Keith (Lorilee) Peters, and all their children.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Herman Wilms, sister Helen Froese and brother Wilfred Kroeker.

Mom led a very active life with Herman. They travelled on business extensively and also spent time in Hawaii with good friends. After Herman’s death, Mom lived in Concordia Village for many years and made good friends there. Unfortunately, after a fall she was sent to the hospital, and from there, she eventually found her home in Donwood Manor.
Mom loved to visit her friends, catch up on news and she enjoyed her stay at Donwood. She was compassionate, caring and loving to everyone she met. She also had a great sense of humour and most of all had a solid faith in her Saviour. She was faithful to Jesus to the end of her life.

Thank you to the staff at Donwood for their compassionate care of Mom.

Funeral service will be on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, with viewing prior. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
