Mathilde Reimer – Life story
January 13, 1961 – September 5, 2022

Mathilde was predeceased by her parents John and Helen Reimer, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Mathilde is survived by 4 sisters and their spouses, 5 brothers and their spouses, 24 nieces and nephews and many friends.

Mathilde was born on January 13, 1961, in Loma Plata, Paraguay. She was the 12th child of 15 children born to John and Helen Reimer. She moved to Canada with her parents and some of her siblings in 1976, when she was just 15 years old. Mathilde and her family attended Springfield Heights Mennonite Church. She was baptized on June 12, 2011, becoming a member of the church.

Mathilde worked at Pizza Hut for approximately 20 years. In the last few years, she had started volunteering at the MCC Thrift Store. She made many wonderful friends here. She always looked forward to her shift and was very proud of her work there. She was such a hard worker.
Tilly loved her daytime drama television shows. She also loved to cook and share her meals with others. Most of all she loved to visit her friends.

Mathilde and her mom Helen lived together for 10 years following the death of her dad, John in 1999. They loved watching Young & the Restless and Days of our Lives and drinking Terere together. Tilly struggled a lot after the passing of her mom in 2010. She missed the companionship, which often left her feeling very lonely.
Mathilde struggled to find her place in life. She often felt like she didn‘t fit in. As a baby she suffered from Meningitis which brought along many challenges within her daily life. She often wished for more in her life but recognized her limitations.
Throughout all these hardships, you could usually find Mathilde with a large smile on her face. She appreciated the small things, a quick chat with friends over Mate or Terere and making calls to family to check in. Mathilde was the best at remembering everyone‘s birthday and loved when friends and family made her birthday a special celebration. Mathilde was so caring and was always sure to wish you ‘All the best‘ when she left. She was always willing to help those around her.
Tilly was the happiest when people took the time to really get to know her. She felt seen and heard. Tilly remained positive and optimistic throughout her cancer progression. She often mentioned how much she loved and appreciated all her visitors and how kind the medical staff were.

There will be large hole in many lives with the loss of Tilly. We will miss her smile, hugs, kindness, and that contagious laugh she had. We love you Tilly.
