Obituary for Milunka Savic

Milunka Savic (Selakovic)

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Baba on January 3, 2023 at the age of 84. She was predeceased by her husband Svetislav. She is survived by her devoted and loving daughters Radmila, Barbara (Todd), Carol (Tony), Her adoring grandchildren Vanessa, Lucas, Jordan, Milina, Leslee and Ethan and her Beloved Godson Miki. Many Loving Friends will remember her as Kuma and Baba.

Milunka was born on June 22, 1938 in Zlatibor, Serbia. Milunka was an active members of the St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and Volunteered at the Serbian Pavilion at Folklorama and was famous for making one of the best gibanica (cheese strudel). She was a wonderful cook and baker and always made sure you were well fed and entertained after a visit. She was an avid knitter and for many years even when she faced health problems, her smile and spirit lit up the room. She continued to make new friends all the time even up to her passing. She had a heart of gold and her happiest moments were when she spent time with her family and friends sharing stories, providing loving support and words of wisdom.

Milunka’s family would like to thank Dr. Burchel, Dr. Lisa Bonds, & Nurse April form Kingsbury Medical Centre, the Palliative team from Riverview and the Palliative nurses who visited her at home for all their tender love and care.

Private funeral services will be held.
