Obituary for Nellie Didora (Kohut)

Nellie Didora (Kohut)
November 14, 1923-March 13, 2023

Peacefully Nellie passed away with family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Peter Didora in 2018. They were married for 67 years. Cherishing her memory is son Ron ( Eileen), daughter Sally (Walter), daughter Darlene (Hector), son Rick (Kathy), daughter Sharon (Ken), 11 grandchildren and their spouses and 20 great-grandchildren.

Nellie was also predeceased by her parents Steve and Mary Kohut, and siblings Bill, Alex, Mike, Olga (Lazerenko), Helen (Cavadini), Nancy (Rinkel), Vicky (Stull); left behind are brothers Nestor and Joe, sisters Sonia (Vincent), Margaret (Yestrau) and Audrey (Hladun).

Mom was born in Rosa Manitoba. She was the eldest daughter of 13 children. Mom moved to Winnipeg and married Dad in 1950. They moved from St Anthony Street in 1956 to Farwell Bay in Fort Garry where they raised their five children. Mom and Dad loved their big garden and shared many of their vegetables with their friends and relatives over a meal. They entertained often and played many card games in their very small kitchen. She could whip up a meal for 30 in no time flat and make it look easy. Many memories were had with new friends at Tall Timber Lodge and their cabin at Sandpipers Estates. They moved to Paradise Village in Ste. Anne, Manitoba after retirement and it opened up a whole new world to them. They loved to travel together, as well as she loved her classes whether it be aqua size, ceramic, knitting and crafts. She cherished her many adventures with her sister Olga and niece Cheryl. Mom also loved all her activities at her home in Seine River Retirement Residence where she resided for 10 years. We would like to thank the staff there for your love and care for our Mother. We would also like to thank the staff at Victoria Hospital during Mom’s short stay there.

Mom’s family was her pride and joy, she would do anything in her power to make us happy. She will be greatly missed by family and all who knew her. Her most spoken words to us were “I love you, I love you all”. They will be forever imprinted on our hearts.

Nellie will be interred at a later date at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Cemetery in St. Norbert, Manitoba.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ukrainian National Federation.
