Ted was born on October 6, 1931 in Einlage, Ukraine. The family arrived in Canada as refugees from war-torn Europe in 1948. They settled in Steinbach but it was not long before Ted moved to Winnipeg where he worked in a lumberyard and took night classes to upgrade his education. Ted started his 26-year career with Canada Safeway, working his way up from clerk to store manager. In 1979, Ted and Irene opened Froese's Food Fare where he worked happily and tirelessly until his retirement in 1991. After retiring, Ted and Irene enjoyed many years of travelling, and split their time between Winnipeg and BC to spend time with their children and grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Douglas Mennonite Church, 1517 Rothesay Street, Winnipeg, with a viewing prior to the service. Burial to follow at Heritage Cemetery in Steinbach.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Mennonite Centre in Ukraine at www.mennonitecentre.ca/ and click “donate”.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the WRHA home care aides who supported and cared for Ted over the last two years. They also extend their deepest and heartfelt thanks to the palliative care team at Concordia Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness.
