Obituary for Willy Donkersloot (Hoedeman)

WILLY DONKERSLOOT

It is with much sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, peacefully on June 6, 2022. She was dearly loved but we are so thankful that her pain and suffering have ended. She is rejoicing in her heavenly home in the arms of Jesus and reunited with her beloved husband which she so longed for.

She is predeceased by her devoted husband of 66 years, Hans. She is survived by her six children, Anthony (Lily), David (Ann), Randy (Cynthia), Marilyn (Jim), Ken (Mona) and Tim (Kelly); along with many precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Willy was born in 1932 in Rotterdam, Holland, and followed the love of her life to Canada, in June,1953 where they married and lived in Lethbridge for a short period and then settled in Winnipeg.

After raising her children, she followed her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse at Children’s Hospital where she touched so many lives. She was dedicated, compassionate and caring. It truly was a gift and not a job. She loved it!

She was a testament to faith, love and commitment as she lovingly cared for her husband in his declining years. A true inspiration!

Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by her family and relished those times. We fondly remember crouqettes, boeter koek (butter cake) and times full of laughter and happiness.

In her retirement years she spent many hours volunteering and investing in the lives of others with a smile and joy.

She served her Lord and Saviour faithfully which was of utmost importance to her. She will be dearly remembered and missed greatly.

Philippians 1:21 “For me to live is Christ, to die is gain”
